Coman Farms is a family endeavor paying homage to our Native American roots and thirst for independence…

“Our goal is to bring to market naturally grown artisanal farm products while providing great client care and offering knowledge about homestead sustainability. Coman Farms breeds for quality, vigor and variety! We are a small family farm that understands what genetic potential looks like in the animal and in the garden.”

Our Farm Story…

One long Alaskan summer day, almost a decade ago, two pioneering spirits met and Coman Farms was born! Growing healthy plants and great people have been the main focus of the farm and quality is the result. From potatoes to poultry and tomatoes to terpenes- The Coman’s do everything in small batches on their boutique family farms in Arizona. To achieve optimal results, all products are hand selected, scientifically analyzed, farm approved and packed with love—making each order worthwhile.
Together they have grown blending their knowledge, experience, native traditions and scientific data to create harmony on the farm, in the garden and within the heart of the family. Guided by ancient ways and a desire for knowledge, Coman Farms fuses sustainable farming and organic cultivation techniques with science and experiences from living along the West Coast, Alaska and in the Southwest.
Patricia and Levi run the multi-acre farm with their 3 children (which includes one set of twins) using a homesteading lifestyle learned from their Elders and cultures around the globe.

Coman Farms Ayam Cemanis:

In Spring of 2020 Coman Cemanis was born. Patricia received a Mother’s Day gift of 5 Ayam Cemani Chickens she had been wishing for! As a high school science teacher and DNA nerd, the unique genetic characteristics of the Ayam Cemani and its fibromelanistic trait lured Patricia in as a fan and breeder. Coman Cemani’s favorite rooster is named “Emu” and he has a gentle personality, dark black feathers with rainbow hues and all black skin, comb, legs and nails. Emu and 3 Ayam Cemani Hens are the foundation fowl of the Coman Ayam Cemani Flock. Coman Farms is proud to offer these all-black exotic birds. As Coman Cemanis, we are a breeder member of the Ayam Cemani Breeders Association and adhere to the ACBA standards and promotion of the black chicken.

Coman Farms has other rare chicken breeds roosting around. We have a White Phoenix Longtail Rooster named “Cloud”, who is king of the crow, and a Silver Duckwing Phoenix named “Rooster Cogburn” who struts around like John Wayne. Our Golden Phoenix Longtail hen, “Rex”, is the family’s free-range favorite and is the only white egg layer on the farm!

Our barnyard includes other hen varieties such as the Rhode Island Red, Barred Rock, Plymouth White Rock, Golden Comet and a small white hen named “Nugget”.

We enjoy hatching chicks and incorporating all things fowl into our family routine!

*Fertilized eggs and chicks from our farm are seasonally available in our store for Ayam Cemani and also Barnyard-exotic mix varieties. All of the roosters at Coman Farms are considered rare and exotic poultry breeds.

Our Nigerian Dairy Goats:

Expanding the farm to include a dairy animal was key to the sustainable lifestyle and good coffee. Patricia chose the Nigerian Dwarf breed of dairy goats for the high milk-fat content in their milk and their small size. 5 fine goats with dairy star breeding were purchased from RioVerdeUdders Herd in March 2020 and Coman Farms babies are expected early 2021. Our Nigerian does: Blue, Cookies-n-Cream and DiamondRock (Marsha) will be blessing the farm with kids in January, February and March- respectively.

*Various goat products (and goats) may be available for purchase, please email or check the store!

Coman Hemp:
(2021 AZ production postponed due to Covid-19) Since 2012, Patricia and Levi Coman have been dedicated to mining for beneficial and novel components in the cannabis plant to create diverse genetic crosses, terpene profiles, unique cannabinoids and other healing ingredients that can be manipulated from industrial hemp.
Patricia S. Coman was the first woman in Arizona to obtain an Industrial Hemp License (and fifth in the state overall) on May 31, 2019. It was a historical moment for females, families and farming. The future of agriculture in Arizona and across America is forever improved with addition of the December 2018 U.S. Farm Bill.
